Make your own AWESOME Trail Mix Print Recipe Print Recipe

I’m picky about my trail mix.

Well, I’ve been picky about a lot of things lately, this being one of them. Now that I’ve already started packing our hospital bag – pinch me, SERIOUSLY – the one thing I knew I wanted was a dang good mix.

I thought about my favorite dried fruits, nuts [if unsalted, I add my own salt] and then simply combined them. Perfect combination of salty and sweet. Thank you Trader Joe’s for selling all my favorites, you make me so happy.

I filled a ziplock with this mix and already stashed in my hospital bag. Then made enough for the airtight container that sits on our counter for everyone to enjoy.

TIP: If you don’t like some [or any] of the ingredients I’ve listed, just replace with your favorites.

psst… If you’re interested in what’s in my hospital bag, I’ll be sharing that with you later this week on WS&G BABY.

This is a perfect idea. My husband lived off of lara bars while I was in the hospital as there was not much food for him to eat, and I’m sure he would have loved a mix like this. I’d probably eat all the dried strawberries first though, they are my favorite!

Trader Joe’s really has the best selection of dried fruits and nuts–I always end up spending a fortune there because I go overboard in that aisle. Such a great idea to combine them in a trail mix!

I would have loved to have something like this when in labor! We were at a birth center, and were able to bring our own food, but I didn’t really feel like eating ‘food’, but a snack like this would have been great!

This looks absolutely fantastic — love the dried strawberries and blueberries…and mango…and pineapple. My kids also love trail mix so a nut-free version of this homemade mix is right up our alley!

  • Libbynan

It LOOKS wonderful, but for some reason I never really got into trail mix. It’s too intense or concentrated or something. Now I could eat my homemade granola out of the jar all day and MY granola is heavy on dried fruit and seeds and nuts. I don’t know what the difference is, but there you have it. Does anyone else out there have this hang up?
