Family Pizza Night & Love for my Dad Print Recipe Print Recipe

Look at that guy.

Hi Dad!

This is his happy place, Orcas Island. He’s been coming here since he was a kid and 50+ years later, he’s standing on the same property that he probably built forts on. Him and my mom just built a beautiful home there [right behind him] and could probably live up here 50% of the time, if they could  manage it with work. I mean, look at that smile. That’s one happy dude.

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME he’s in the kitchen prepping, you will find reminisce of real beef jerky, sometimes pretzel halves and a cold mug of beer. Classic Jeff Baker.

Pizza night calls for lots of veggies. Looks like he’s also moved onto wine.

We love an easy, “build your own pizza” night. My parents are very healthy eaters, so pizza night consists of lots of vegetables, grilled chicken for protein and light on the cheese.

I made mine with the Udi’s Gluten-free crust, while they made theirs with homemade dough from the bakery. If you have a local pizza place or gluten-free bakery, you can always call and ask if they sell just the dough. I’m still testing out pizza crusts, haven’t found my favorite yet, EXCEPT when they’re locally made.

Crispy artichoke hearts on the stove and lots of grilled veggies, all ready for topping. Dad’s the grill master!

We all had our own pizzas that we loaded up with all the goods. We’re a family that will eat cold pizza the next day, so the bigger the better.

Amazing family. Amazing food. Amazing home. Happy Father’s Day the one AMAZING dad, I love you!

and happy soon-to-be Father’s day to my loving husband, I can’t wait to celebrate this day with you next year!

Love to all the father figures in my life!

Looks like such a pretty place. And pizza nights are always so fun! That’s one of my tricks to make my picky husband eat more vegetables… I put lots of it on our homemade pizzas :)

Lovely post, and your dad does look like a pretty happy guy :-)  I’ve been to Orcas Island once and loved it. I can completely understand why it’s your dad’s happy place!

I have celiacs and my husband and I are traveling to Orcas Island this July for a wedding (we’re from Boston).  Are there places on the island to grocery shop and/or g-free restaurants?
