Baking up something BIG…
Print Recipe
First time that this little bump is more than just a food baby. We’re PREGNANT!
I’m 12 weeks, just barely surviving first trimester. I don’t know if any of you picked up on it – all my fro-yo trips, multiple spaghetti nights, not a lot of food posts and a little quieter on twitter. I’ve been so nauseous and being on my computer makes me dizzy and want to throw up. It’s still the case, I’m just waiting for it to go away and hopefully be able to walk up the stairs without losing color in my face.
Sorry guys, I’m throwing a lot of heavy things at you. First my scary healthy story, then the loss of our pup and now this. I think we’re done after this, not to worry.

If you can read this picture, it says, “My eyes are burning. I hope this shirt doesn’t show just how large my boobs are. Does curling my hair distract from the fact that I feel like I want to throw up? I still look tired.”
What did you do when I found out?
I cried. Mix of happy tears and holy shit I wasn’t ready for this. Then I proceeded to take four more tests.
Was this planned?
Not so much… We talked a lot about having a family and let’s just say, we didn’t do anything to avoid it. However, my last visit to the Doctor, I still wasn’t ovulating. Things were still messed up from when I was sick a few years back. They wanted to send me to a fertility specialist, but we decided to wait before going down that road. It’s our miracle baby
Part of me also thinks that our little pup was an angel and knew in order for us to bring in life, he had to leave us. That would be him.
Any special tricks?
What’s funny is that we stopped “trying”. I hated seeing that look of defeat on my husband’s face every time we had a negative test. Since I didn’t have a period for years, we were always taking TONS of test. We should have bought stock. Finally, we gave it a rest. It was a combination of where we were financially, I decided I wanted to do more with my business and we thought we’d squeeze in one more move before settling.
Another change, this past Fall was we switched to all organics. I was starting to react to food again so we bite the bullet, cost wise and went organic. Worth it? absolutely. Another thing, I wasn’t intense with my workouts. I was giving my body a break, still working out, but light impact.
Who knows if any of this impacted us getting pregnant, but I’ll go with it.
How did you tell my husband?
Well, the thing is he’s never let me take a test without him. So actually he told me, by saying, “uh…. where’s the box?” After the 2nd test that night, we both knew it was real.
Food Aversions
Nothing green. No salads. Hardly any meat, except for hot dogs & meatballs – random. No vegetables. No green juices. No sweet potatoes. No oatmeal. Nothing
… and I’ve asked the nurse not to share my weight from here on out.
What have you been eating?
Foods that I ate as a child. Literally, the last time I ate any of the foods I’m currently living off of, I haven’t had since I lived at my parents house. Maybe college.
Spagetti – lots of it, mac & “cheese”, hot dogs – only “meat” I can get down, cucumber rolls, laughing cow cheese/string cheese, grilled cheese, PB&J and frozen yogurt/ice cream. **ALL gluten-free
That’s basically it.
Oh and now I can eat cheese – I guess it’s one of those CRAZZZY pregnancy things!
Will the blog change?
No, I will not become a mommy blogger. However, I’ll probably include pregnancy related info/updates and once the baby’s here, I’m sure there will be many baby shots in with the food photos. I will continue to share delicious gluten-free recipes, entertaining tidbits and whatever else inspires me.
Here we go, 28 more weeks to go!
