Sometimes the perfectionist in me is so strong that it takes me out.

It happens more often that I’d like to admit.

A few weeks ago, my friend handed me this frame. I almost cried. Hi my name’s Lisa and I’m an emotional perfectionist.

My husband looked at me and said, “can we make wallpaper out of this?” Yeah, it can get ugly.

This is hanging in a place that I walk by all day, every day. It brings me joy.

This is my gift to all of you who also struggle with the ugly side of perfectionism. ps. You’re not alone.

Perfectionism is my excuse for not crafting. I have a hard time trying things I believe won’t turn out like the perfect picture in my mind. What a beautiful reminder and encouragement. Now I’m off to look for a replica…

My dear, if I let perfectionist win, I would never step behind that camera. I’d never find the “perfect” image to post or have the right words to say. If that happened, there would be no blog. I’m always reminded to be in my heart, cook with love and use only the perfectionist in me to do good, not harm. Give it a try and see what happens, but be gracious with yourself.

Aw – what a sweet friend! I think I need this framed somewhere too… I think all creatives struggle with perfectionism – we want to create but we don’t want to do anything unless it is PERFECT. One time I was in a fit of rage while working on a project and just told everyone around me “You just have no idea how hard it is to be me!” <—- like woah, get a grip sista. Grace is wayyyy more likable than perfection

Giving up on perfection was one of the most freeing decisions of my life. It was great relief to my family as well (perfection is always projected onto others close to us). A standard of grace is far more attainable, liveable, easy to welcome others into — I love this! What a great reminder to see everyday!
