50 Healthy Gluten-free Snack Ideas Print Recipe Print Recipe

Currently in my handbag: satsuma, peanut butter packs, and homemade trail mix.

I’m the girl who needs to eat every few hours and if I don’t, beware. Seriously. Lisa the grump may bite and no, there’s nothing sexual about it. That was for those with their mind in the gutter.

What’s so great about snacking? Well, eating healthy snacks can help curb cravings, give you a boost of energy, keeps you from over eating, and ALSO support weight loss.

When I travel, [and we’re talking anything from the Dr.’s office to a plane ride across the country] I always pack a variety of the items below. This keeps me eating healthy and avoids those gnarly sugar crashes.

For those of you who are new to gluten-free or need a refresher, check out the basics of living without gluten.

For all of you that write about hypoglycemia symptoms: did they hypoglycemia start when you realized you needed to become gluten-free (if you were diagnosed later in life like me)? I seem to have reactive hypoglycemia (or symptoms of “dumping syndrome”) ever since my celiac became so bad I finally realized something was wrong with me, but have not always had this problem. Please advise!

A couple of others I like:Little packets of Barney Butter-great for plane trips, and my afternoon sweet tooth favorite-melt some dark chocolate in the microwave and top with sliced bananas or dried apricots and chopped nuts. Is this cute or what?????????????????????

  • http://www.tigernutsusa.com/ Tiger Nuts Inc

Hi everyone, true this is a great list, but may we offer just one more for your consideration, they are Tiger Nuts. And quite frankly the chances are that right about now you are asking yourself “What the heck are Tiger Nuts”?

    Good question!

The answer is that they are probably the healthiest ‘single source’ snack food on the market today.

They are 100% Gluten Free, 100% Organic, High in Fiber (10 times cashews, five times walnuts, three times almonds and less calories and fats than all of them), Dairy Free, Nut Free (they are a tuber), High in Nutrition and they taste great too!

You can find us in many of the fine health food stores across the country and at our on line store http://www.tigernutsusa.com

Tiger Nuts have been around for over 4000 years and recently scientists discovered that “Cavemen” existed pretty much on Tiger Nuts, here’s a link to a NY Times article: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/14/science/nutcracker-mans-secret-he-didnt-crack-nuts.html?_r=1
