[Baked] Cinnamon Spiced Apple Chips Print Recipe Print Recipe

I ate these in less time than it took to bake.

I would have eaten made, but I ran out of apples. Which is whyyyyy I’m on attempt #2 at convincing my husband to go apple picking with me.  Today.  I’ve never been, but sounds like the perfect thing to do on a Wednesday.

I wish we could say we’re being spontaneous and playing hooky. Yeah, no. He works in hotel business and has different off days than normal people. It’s cool.

Now, grab those apples and get baking, these are way too good to miss out on! No excuses needed.

Psst. . . Big announcement coming on Monday!

[Baked] Apple Cinnamon Spice Chips

  • 2 large red apples
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon sugar

Preheat oven to 200 F. Cover baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.

With a mandoline or a knife, thinly slice the apples crosswise about 1/8-inch thick. Again, with the knife or a cookie cutter [my choice], cut out the seeds.

In a shallow dish, combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar [optional]. Add the apples and toss in the spice mixture until coated.

Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake 1 1/2 – 2 hours, or until the apples are dry and crispy. Remove from oven and let cool.

Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container, about 2-3 days.

Oh Lisa those look sooo good! I like that you baked them in the oven rather than messing with a dehydrator. I have one but use my oven more b/c it’s faster. Yum to these!

I know these would be a huge hit with my family. We’ve been thinking of buying a dehydrator for a long time, but this recipe will hold me over until we have a chance to do that.

The chips are delicious but take way, way, way longer to bake. I used the thinnest setting on the mandolin. After two hours in the oven I turned the temperature up to 225 degrees. In the end it took about four hours. Can’t imagine how long they would take if I had cut them any thicker.

I think it’s funny that the recipe says they can be stored for 2-3 days. Who could leave them sitting around that long? They would be eaten up in a heartbeat 🙂

I actually just became allergic to Gluten so you are an angel from above right now. It’s been so hard not being able to eat the foods I used to be able to eat.
