Snack Happy Travel Mix Print Recipe Print Recipe

Today, I’m jumping on a plane and heading to Seattle. Home sweet home. No big occasion, just to all be together as a family.

Whenever I travel, even if it’s to a doctor’s appointment, I always have a snack. Sometimes a meal. . . or two.

One, being gluten intolerant my options are limited. Two, airport food is expensive. Three, I have to eat every few hours or I get cranky. <my husband “you sound like a child”>

favorite mix + 1/2 teaspoon of salt = snack happy

I like making my own trail mix that way I can control what goes in it. You want 80% chocolate, you get 80% chocolate.

A few of my other favorites travel snacks include this and that.

and the plan for the weekend is. . .

Thursday: Hangin’ with my mom – open a bottle of Rombauer, popcorn for dinner and fire in the fireplace. Later, my dad and sister arrive.

Friday: Hair appointments, just the girls – priorities. My husband arrives [Yay!!]. The usual, wine + dinner + getting cozy by the fire.

Saturday: Lunch and wine tasting with the family. Dinner at home, just the five of us [& then we say thank you and go out].

Sunday: Breakfast with in-laws. Walk & coffee with my best friend before visiting our other friend and the twins! Again,  the usual, wine + dinner + getting cozy by the fire.

MondayThursday: Working, seeing friends, lots of mom & me time, and of course, consuming lots of wine & popcorn. The usual.

I love going home.

Thanks so much for posting a healthy snack mix! I’m traveling for the next three weekends in a row and always need an alternative to unhealthy airport food. My husband also says I’m like a small child when it comes to eating frequently, but hey, have to keep that metabolism moving.

    Enjoy your trip home!

Okay. First off, gorgeous photos. Seriously. Second, your trail mix is very similar to mine…especially because I also load mine up with dark chocolate. And third, anyone who likes Rombauer wines has her priorities straight!! ;) Have a fun time at home!

Lovely trail mix. Unfortunately in Australia its illegal to carry dried fruit and nuts between some States, due to pest control laws. So I’d have to eat all mine in the departure lounge. :-(
