Riesling Strawberry Slushies Print Recipe Print Recipe

I’m fully aware that it’s not summer, but when it’s 80 degrees and strawberries are still front and center at Whole Foods, I’m left with no choice. It’s popsicles,  ice coffee and these, Riesling strawberry slushies.

Forget the straw, give me a spoon.

a BIG spoon.

If you’ve already moved right into Fall, it’s okay. There’s no rules for when you can or cannot enjoy an alcoholic drink, if you ask me. You can always replace this with frozen strawberries, or berries of choice. I bet this could be good with watermelon or honeydew.

How perfect would these be for a baby or bridal shower??

Not only is this eat-straight-out-of-the-bowl worthy, but it’s SUPER duper easy! I’m practically in love with everything about this drink.

Riesling Strawberry Slushy

PRINT Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups hulled strawberries
  • 1 bottle [750ml] dry Riesling
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar

Directions

Reserve 1 cup of the Riesling – cover and place in the fridge to chill.

In a food processor, puree strawberries with the remaining wine, lime juice and sugar. Pour the mixture into ice cube trays and freeze until solid. When you’re ready to serve [or drink], puree the ice cubes with the remaining wine in your blender.

Enjoy!

P.S. Just read your ‘About Me’ page and forwarded a link to your blog to a girlfriend of mine who is gluten and dairy free. The change in diet has helped several of her health issues, but the main one was migraines.

Do you think it would be possible to do this recipe with a sparkling wine??
It looks amazing, I’ll have to try it either way!

  • AQB

@Erin – My experience with using sparkling wines in anything to do with blenders is that it goes flat and has a strange texture afterward.

This looks great.. going to make it this weekend!

Where can you get those adorable straws?

  • Anonymous

you can buy them online at Shop Sweet Lulu – http://shopsweetlulu.com/

  • sarah harrison

I just made these- delish! I just used previously frozen strawberries, fresh lime, and reisling.  Because I used frozen fruit, it was not necessary to freeze it into ice cubes first- just an idea to speed up the process!

  • Holyhart

Looks amazing!  Bet it would be fabulous with peaches too!

What a brilliant idea to blend, freeze and re-blend. I’ve always struggled with getting that extra-slushy feel to my drinks and I can’t wait to try this!

yummmmy!! but I don’t think it’s the best idea for a baby shower, unless you can make it non alcoholic! The mama-to-be would be very jealous! =)
