Cinnamon & Sugar Toast Recipe

PRINT Recipe

[adapted by The Pioneer Woman]

Ingredients

  • sandwich bread of your choice – I use Udi’s Gluten-free sandwich bread
  • 1 stick salted butter, softened OR 1/2 cup of Earth Balance
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • pinch [or 1/8 teaspoon] ground nutmeg

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

In a bowl, mash the butter with a fork a few times. Add the sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg – mix until well combined.

Using a toaster, toast the bread for half the amount of time – this helps crisp up the insides.

[Generously] spread on slices of bread with your butter mixture, making sure to cover the entire surface.

Place your buttered toast on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes. To caramelize, change setting to broiler [low] and broil until it’s a nice golden brown and yes, it will begin to bubble, but be careful, it will burn if it’s in for more than a few minutes.

Remove, cut diagonally – tastes better that way, I’m convinced and enjoy!

Option to be *gluten-free *dairy-free

My daughter is on a cinnamon toast kick lately. I’ll have to try it this way next time. Usually we just sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top of buttered toast.

This bread spread sounds perfect for me. I love cinnamon, its one of my favourite spices. I’m always looking for new breakfast ideas too. I was just wondering if you are able to store the part that you dont use, and if so, where do I store it and for how long?
