I like creamy things. However, creamy things usually {hardly ever} don’t like me.

I decided to experiment with different types of dairy free yogurt – not going to lie, it’s not the same.

Coconut Milk Yogurt – Silky and sweet, you don’t even need to add any sweetener. This is my favorite brand.

Soy Yogurt is another great option. I’m sensitive to soy products so I tend to steer away.

Goats Milk Yogurt – This isn’t dairy-free but easier to digest than cows milk yogurt – a possibility for those with *sensitivities to dairy. It has a distinct flavor, but after adding the toppings – listed below, it’s delicious! This is the brand I tried & liked the best. *Not recommended for those allergic to dairy.

If you can tolerate dairy, Greek Yogurt is probably your best bet as it’s loaded with lots of protein and hardly any sugar.

Topping options:

  • Fresh fruit – raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, peaches, etc.
  • Dried fruit – apricots, prunes, dates, cranberries, etc.
  • Granola
  • Honey {sweetener}
  • Flaxseeds, ground &/or Wheat germ (fiber)
  • Hemp seeds

Eat for breakfast, have as a snack, or even a post workout meal. You’ll love it, I just know it.

    I’m lucky that I can eat dairy, and I eat Greek yogurt almost daily. However, I in the past, I have experimented with finding vegan options for ‘everything’. Part of me was curious if my body would feel different if I ate vegan (it didn’t) and a big part of me believes that it’s healthy to cut down on all animal-based protein. (I don’t think it’s necessary to eliminate it 100% though. Just my little opinion.)

    I found that I loved the coconut-based options… the yogurt as well as the coconut-based ice cream!

    Really, it was the cheese that was difficult (impossible) to find a good substitute for. 🙁

    Mmm…your photos are making me hungry! I am crazy about coconut milk yogurt by So Delicious. And I heard they’re coming out with a Greek Style coconut milk yogurt, too. I can hardly wait!

    I try not to eat too much dairy but I fell in love with the Icelandic yogurt by Siggi’s. Their orange/ginger flavor is my fave followed closely by passion fruit/pomegranate. I need the protein and don’t enjoy the tang of the soy yogurt. My son’s eat the soy kind and I can tolerate it in a smoothy. I really love this post! Thank you for sharing the other types of yogurt that are out there. Food for thought for sure!!

    Great post! I’m lactose intolerant and miss dairy products like crazy! I’ve found a likeable soy milk, but haven’t had luck with yogurts…can’t wait to try these and your recipe out!
