{Healthy Eating} Day 3: Green {sugar-free} Lemonade!
I’m not a juice kinda girl, I usually prefer to eat my food, but I could honestly drink this all day, every day. Of course, I was a little weary on the idea of drinking romaine lettuce, I mean wouldn’t you? But since then, I’ve been craving it! If I wasn’t traveling, I’d make a large quantity of this and maybe even try other juicing recipes. This could actually change the relationship with my stomach, in a good way. We don’t always get along. I usually upset it and then it rebels by… wait, too much? I’ll stop.
I read the benefits of juicing, in general – here’s a quick recap:
- body can quickly absorb large amounts of nutrients and within your bloodstream within 30 minutes of consumption
- raw fresh vegetable juices are extremely alkaline – i.e. cancer lives in acidic bodies, opposite of alkaline
- excellent source of vitamins and minerals
- ingredients in liquid form promotes healing, energy and protection from diseases
- increase metabolic rate (I like this point)
Hands up, how many of you juice? Or own a juicer, but don’t use it? I’m guilty, I found mine in the back of the pantry next to our rice cooker. Thank goodness it’s a new year and a new you – let’s get juicing! I’ll start if you do… Would you like if I posted a juicing or detox recipe a week? No? Ok, just let me know.
It’s funny how throwing random ingredients into a juicer ends up tasting good. Well, maybe not all, but it seems as long as there’s apples, pears or carrots as a base, it’s going to be good.

Green Lemonade Recipe
{adapted by Green Lemonade}
Ingredients
- 2 apples, quartered – I used Gala, recipe suggests Macintosh – have your pick!
- 2 lemons, sliced in half
- 1/2 head of romaine lettuce
Directions
Place apples, and romaine leaves through your juicer. Then take your sliced lemon halves and put those through the juicer as well. Pour into a glass and sip it down! Prepare yourself, you might become addicted.
